Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features live text of the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard on select stations for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
We're in the sixth week of the NFL season and after recent discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable during those contests was the number of infractions each conceded. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter against Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.
However it proved positive to observe that Denver's QB the rookie managed to have the shortfall and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory by four points.
The Broncos boast the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver won that contest.
They had the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They weren't necessarily sending more than four defenders instead they might position two LBs in the interior then drop them out and send a slot defender from the outside.
Early on in the campaign, it was noted during a show that the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly then did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
New TE their tight end has excelled big and new running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently 5th league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).
It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
That shows that Denver are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in favourable down and distances.
This has helped QB Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he's highly agile.
His strengths are his mobility, the capacity to throw while moving, and finding different arm angles to deliver throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade a sack as much as possible and can pass in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
If you constantly rush it eats up time and forces the defence to be on the field for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the area vertically and horizontally. It can be draining.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton during games at times and I think Payton appreciates that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to have a rookie QB that is similar to moldable clay. He can really build something up the way he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton owns a Super Bowl and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps make him what he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team good enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a good place to hold the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this trajectory.
They excel at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do against the Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win any game.
Since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are also the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a manageable slate up to their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.
It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
