Trio Named as Finalists for Young Sports Star Honour

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.

These three athletes have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a historic innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The shortlisted athletes were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.

This year's winner will be announced during a live broadcast on the prestigious sports ceremony show on Thursday, 18 December.

The ceremony will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score crucial late equalisers in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Afterwards, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

And he wasn't finished there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for the honour once more is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a special memory for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and burst into the spotlight with an unbelievable and unprecedented innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
