Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase such as this with results like these.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
