Investigative Body
The Congressional oversight panel has released a collection of roughly 70 photographs obtained from the property of former found guilty individual convicted of sex crimes Jeffrey Epstein.
This marks the third disclosure from a tranche of in excess of 95,000 photos the committee has acquired from Epstein's holdings. It features pictures of passages from the literary work Lolita inscribed across a woman's body, and obscured images of women's international passports.
This release comes just hours before the December 19th cut-off for the Department of Justice to disclose all documents related to its inquiry into Epstein.
"These latest photos pose additional inquiries about exactly what the Department of Justice has in its custody," stated the ranking member of the committee, Robert Garcia.
A number of the images made public on this week feature Epstein speaking with scholar and advocate Noam Chomsky aboard a personal aircraft; Bill Gates positioned alongside a woman whose features is obscured; Steve Bannon sitting at a workstation facing Epstein, and previous Alphabet president Sergey Brin at a dinner event.
Investigative Body
These are the most recent affluent, prominent individuals to be seen in Epstein estate photographs disclosed by the House Oversight Committee - formerly disclosed images also show US President Donald Trump and former president Bill Clinton, as well as movie director Woody Allen, ex- US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, counsel Alan Dershowitz, Andrew Mountbatton-Windsor, and additional individuals.
Showing up in the photos is is not considered evidence of any wrongdoing, and several of the featured individuals have stated they were never involved in Epstein's unlawful actions.
In a press release accompanying the image publication, Lawmakers on the US House Oversight Committee stated the Epstein estate did not supply explanatory details or timings for the photographs.
"Photographs were selected to furnish the public with clarity into a typical cross-section of the photos acquired from the estate, and to offer insights into Epstein's network and his profoundly disturbing actions," the release says.
Committee
The publication also contains a number of photos of quotes from the Vladimir Nabokov book Lolita inscribed in dark ink across several locations of a woman's body, like her chest, lower extremity, pelvis, and rear. Lolita recounts the account of a young girl who was groomed by a older literature professor.
A particular excerpt from the book inscribed across a female's chest says, "Lolita's name: the end of the tongue traveling of three steps down the palate to alight, at three, on the teeth".
There are also a series of images of female identification and official papers from nations around the world, such as Lithuania, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.
Committee
The majority of the data on the documents, including names and DOBs, is censored but the committee said in a announcement that the passports are associated with "women whom Jeffrey Epstein and his associates were engaging".
Another image shows Epstein sitting at a table in close proximity flanked by three women whose features have been redacted - one has her hand on Epstein's chest under his clothing, and another is crouching to look at a adjacent device. Epstein seems to be assisting the third attach a wristband.
Investigative Body
Another photo disclosed is a capture of SMS messages from an unnamed person who claims they have been supplied "a number of girls" and are requesting "$1000 per female".
The body has many thousands of photographs in its holdings from the Epstein holdings, which are "at once graphic and everyday," its announcement on recently clarified.
The oversight panel first issued a subpoena to the property of Epstein, who passed away in a New York prison in 2019 while facing trial on accusations of sex trafficking crimes, in August.
The photos and documents the Epstein estate submitted to the panel are separate from what is largely referred to "the Epstein files". Those files are documents in the justice department's possession connected to its independent inquiry into Epstein.
Pursuant to the recently passed law, which the President signed into law in November, the DOJ has until the date of 19 December to publish its documents. The full nature of what's included in the DOJ's records is unknown, and it's probable that a significant portion of the information will be significantly redacted, akin to House Oversight Committee releases
