Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.

Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
