Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for celebrating violence and mayhem with the same glee, all while telling engaging, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose projects have exemplified all of those elements.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' format by introducing a fresh location and ensemble in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their ongoing confidence and backing.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can evolve from year to year, while always exploring the core of society through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, daring sensibility to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
