The original creators of the famous ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has announced that parent company the multinational conglomerate blocked the introduction for an innovative Palestine-themed ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, who established the company alongside Jerry Greenfield, disclosed how he plans to personally create this new flavor within an individual series highlighting causes the company was prevented from addressing publicly.

Ongoing Conflict Between Founders versus Parent Company

The recent announcement escalates the continuing conflict between the internationally recognized dessert company with its corporate parent, the British packaged goods giant which acquired the ice cream brand for over two decades.

Both founders have asserted how the parent company along with its ice cream arm the Magnum brand improperly prevented their company from "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

Watermelon Sorbet as a Symbol for Support

The entrepreneur revealed via social media how he's developing a new watermelon-based frozen dessert, asking for public suggestions regarding the product's name and potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder declared in a cooking set. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that calls for permanent peace in Palestine and calls for addressing the harm that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has become an emblem for solidarity with the Palestinian people due to its coloration, which mirror the colors in Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Previous Social Engagement and Current Changes

Several years ago, Ben & Jerry's refused to sell its products in areas under Israeli control, leading to the parent company selling the Israeli operation over to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting continued sales in disputed territories.

This upcoming dessert series is being developed under Ben's Best, the activist ice cream brand that originally created in 2016 to support former political contender Senator Sanders via the product "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Changes plus Future Intentions

The founder revealed how he will develop other ice cream flavors focusing on concerns that Ben & Jerry's was prevented from addressing publicly by Unilever.

This development comes after co-founder Jerry Greenfield resigned from Ben & Jerry's recently, after decades of involvement, mentioning concerns regarding how its independence had been undermined after corporate moves to restrict its social activism.

At that time, Ben Cohen remarked how "Jerry has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for corporate autonomy so that the company can actualise its ethical purpose, the values which it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he told journalists.
